Strolling around the Bay of Saint-Brieuc
Cliffs, coves, beaches, and harbors dot the coastline of the Bay of Saint-Brieuc. To make the most of it, follow the red-and-white markers of the GR®34.
This former customs officers' path runs along the Brittany coast for nearly 2,000 km, stretching from Mont-Saint-Michel to Saint-Nazaire.
Around Saint-Brieuc, a 60 km stretch allows you to discover the bay right by the water's edge.
There is no need to walk the entire route! Several sections let you choose a walk that suits your schedule and preferences.
From Saint-Brieuc, head towards Hillion and the Saint-Brieuc Bay National Nature Reserve.
The route to the *Maison de la Baie* (Bay Visitor Centre) offers stunning views of this vast natural area shaped by the tides.
🥾 Saint-Brieuc – Maison de la Baie: 16 km, approx. 4 hours
To continue eastwards, the GR34 connects the *Maison de la Baie* to the Ponts-Neufs viaduct.
This shorter section allows you to keep exploring the inner bay, amidst a mix of countryside and coastal scenery.
🥾 Maison de la Baie – Ponts-Neufs viaduct: 11 km, approx. 2 hours 45 minutes
Head west towards Plérin and Les Rosaires beach. This large sandy beach makes for a lovely stop before continuing along the coast to Binic.
🥾 Saint-Brieuc – Les Rosaires Beach: 12 km, approx. 3 hours
🥾 Les Rosaires Beach – Binic Harbor: 9.5 km, approx. 2.5 hours
Here, the trail alternates between elevated sections, small beaches, and open views of the English Channel before reaching the quays of Binic Harbor.
Want to keep going? From Binic, the GR34 trail continues to Saint-Quay-Portrieux, a seaside resort known for its harbor and beaches.
🥾 Binic Harbor – Saint-Quay-Portrieux Harbor: 7 km, approx. 1 hour 45 minutes
The final leg leads to Tréveneuc, following a wilder stretch of coastline featuring cliffs, rocky headlands, and sweeping sea views.
🥾 Saint-Quay-Portrieux – Tréveneuc: 10 km, approx. 2.5 hours
After a few hours on the GR34, return to our hotel in Saint-Brieuc for a well-deserved break.
